With the notarized contract dated 19 March 2015 Kai Capital Management GmbH & Co. KGaA has acquired all shares of
Portawin Kriege GmbH & Co. KG
headquartered in Essen.
For more than 70 years, Portawin Kriege has been a manufacturer of structural elements (windows, doors, interior) which are sold and installed in North Rhine Westphalia and the rest of Germany. A lot of the customers come from the public sector and the vast majority of orders is obtained through public tendering.
The company was founded in 1943 by the father of the current managing partner, Mr. Georg Kriege, and goes back to a carpentry founded by the family more than 100 years ago in Essen. George Kriege will continue to lead the company with its more than 70 employees in the coming years as managing director and thus ensure the desired continuity.
The acquisition takes place as part of a long-term succession plan that will have no impact on the operating activities of Portawin Kriege. In addition to the operating company Kai Capital Management has also acquired all of the shares of the general partner, Kriege GmbH, Essen.
Kai Capital Management is a holding company which acquires small and mid-sized companies, particularly those which are undergoing a succession planning. Kai Capital Management acquires at least a majority stake in its targeted acquisitions and continues to work closely with the company’s existing management in accordance with ethical and entrepreneurial principles. Kai Capital Management’s priority is the mid- and long-term success of the companies it acquires.
